Become an Academy School

Each year, NAfET accepts applications for schools to become a member of our partner schools’ network. The applications are due June 1 of the calendar year. The application gives continuing and prospective schools the opportunity to respond in detail to NAfET’s mission, goals, and guiding principles and how they see themselves as a full partner in the professional development opportunities that NAfET provides. The application also asks schools to describe how they will use the NAfET workplan in implementing the school’s professional development priorities and how they will participate and use the data that NAfET collects to focus on instructional improvement. A Selection and Visitation Committee of NAfET will visit each new prospective school meeting with the principal, teachers, parents and community members to see if both the organization and the school are a good match for each other before a collective decision is made.

7. Please describe briefly the history of your school. Also describe your school’s instructional philosophy and how that philosophy is supported structurally within the school.
8. Please include the following demographic information about your school: (Number of instructional staff; percentage of students on free or reduced lunch; percentage of students who are ELL and receive special services; average year of teacher experience).
9. NAfET has designed several professional development opportunities to support schools to meet their professional development goals. They include: Three professional development forums for schools (August 28-30; Nov 7; and a spring date TBA); monthly content-based practitioner forums; and the Small Schools
